Hydroponics is a system where plants grow in an unusual for them environment—in a liquid medium with added minerals and other supplements.
Originally, this science came to live and became a widely spread idea during the 17th century when Sir Francis Bacon researched in-depth the idea of growing plants without a soil. In reality, Sir Bacon’s work was published long after his death, in 1627.
This did not obstruct others such as his countryman from the United Kingdom, John Woodward, to study the topic even further. This second scientific work was published in 1699.
